Me - Home Educated
I have home educated since January 2003 and I love it! I started to think about home-eding because my little brother came out of school and bullies also made me think about it, but in the end it came down to the fact that school was boring me and I needed more challenges! :o) Now here I am, home educated and learning about whatever I want to!
The Law
Some people may say you have to go to school, this is not true! It is hidden from children and parents but HOME EDUCATION IS LEGAL!
You DO have to have a FULL-TIME education
BUT
School is NOT compulsory!
There is more information on the Education Otherwise Website (see the 'More Info' section, below, for the link) in the Legal Information section :oD
Taking GCSE's
I am working for GCSE's now, but my brothers and a lot of other home educated children aren't. Either because they aren't ready, they don't want to, they might want to take them at college, or they might have another reason!
Do I Need A Tutor?
Often, when I'm talking to people about me being home-educated, I get asked "...so do you have a tutor to do it with or what?" My answer is no. I don't think you need a tutor at my age but at the age of my youngest brother, for example, they probably will need help. My parents help my brothers (and me if I need it!) Children need to spend time with their loved ones whether it be parent(s), relative or just someone who cares. Surely they don't want to be shoved off to some strange teacher!
